Equipment Rental Policy

Courtice Home Healthcare offers short-term and long-term rental of medical equipment to individuals, caregivers, and healthcare facilities in the Durham Region and surrounding areas. This Rental Policy outlines the terms and conditions governing all equipment rentals.

1. Available Rental Equipment

We offer rentals on a wide range of medical equipment, including:

  • Hospital beds and accessories
  • Manual and power wheelchairs
  • Rollators and walkers
  • CPAP and BiPAP machines
  • Knee scooters and crutches
  • Lift chairs and transfer aids
  • Bath safety equipment
  • Compression therapy devices

Equipment availability is subject to stock. Please contact us to confirm availability before visiting our store.

2. Rental Agreement

  • A signed rental agreement is required before any equipment is released
  • The renter must be at least 18 years of age or have a legal guardian sign on their behalf
  • Valid government-issued photo identification is required at the time of rental
  • By signing the rental agreement, the renter agrees to all terms outlined in this policy

3. Rental Rates and Billing

  • Rental rates are quoted at the time of rental and vary by equipment type and rental duration
  • All rates are in Canadian Dollars (CAD) and are subject to applicable taxes
  • Rental periods are typically weekly or monthly — please ask our staff for current pricing
  • Rental fees are due at the start of each rental period
  • We accept cash, debit, and major credit cards
  • Insurance and ADP funding may be applicable for certain rental equipment — ask our staff for details

4. Security Deposit

  • A refundable security deposit may be required at the time of rental depending on the equipment type
  • The deposit amount will be communicated clearly before the rental agreement is signed
  • The deposit will be refunded in full upon return of the equipment in satisfactory condition
  • Deposits will not be refunded if the equipment is returned damaged beyond normal wear and tear

5. Equipment Condition and Care

  • All rental equipment is cleaned, sanitized, and inspected before each rental
  • Renters are responsible for maintaining the equipment in good working condition throughout the rental period
  • Equipment must be used only for its intended purpose
  • Any damage, malfunction, or safety concern must be reported to us immediately
  • Do not attempt to repair or modify rental equipment yourself

6. Damage and Loss

  • Normal wear and tear is expected and will not result in additional charges
  • Damage beyond normal wear and tear will be assessed and charged to the renter
  • In the event of theft or loss of rental equipment, the renter is responsible for the full replacement cost
  • We recommend checking your home insurance policy for coverage of rented medical equipment

7. Rental Period and Extensions

  • The rental period begins on the date the equipment is picked up or delivered
  • Rental extensions must be requested before the end of the current rental period
  • Extensions are subject to equipment availability
  • Failure to return equipment or request an extension by the due date will result in additional rental charges

8. Return of Equipment

  • Equipment must be returned to our store at 1423 King St E, Unit 5, Courtice during business hours
  • Equipment must be returned clean and in the same condition as rented
  • Please bring all accessories, attachments, and components that were included with the equipment
  • Early returns are accepted — rental fees will be adjusted accordingly where applicable
  • We do not offer pickup service for returned equipment unless special arrangements have been made in advance

9. Cancellations

  • Rental cancellations made before the equipment is picked up will receive a full refund of any deposit paid
  • Once equipment has been picked up, the first rental period fee is non-refundable
  • To cancel a rental, please contact us as soon as possible

10. Insurance and ADP Coverage

  • Some rental equipment may be covered under Ontario ADP (Assistive Devices Program)
  • Direct billing to Green Shield, WSIB, Sun Life, and other insurers may be available for eligible equipment
  • It is the renter's responsibility to confirm coverage with their insurer prior to rental
  • We will assist with the necessary documentation for insurance or ADP claims upon request

11. Liability

Courtice Home Healthcare is not responsible for any injury, loss, or damage arising from the improper use of rental equipment. It is the renter's responsibility to ensure the equipment is appropriate for their needs and used correctly. We recommend consulting a healthcare professional before renting medical equipment.
